philadelphia museum of art (or...'are you laughing at our masterpieces?')

Facebook - Untitled_edited

located at 2600 benjamin franklin parkway, the philadelphia museum art is a must if you are visitng the city of brotherly love. you pay a nominal fee and can spend the entire day immersing yourself in art and history. or....spend the day wondering what the hell you are looking at. i started in the contemporary section. for me, this was a big mistake. i just didn't get it. i had no clue what i was viewing, and of course i got busted giggling at one or two pieces by the guides that seemed to be lurking around every corner (i mean, seriously, they were everywhere! i guess they though i was going to stuff a giant painting in my pocket? dunno.) anyway, even though i found the contemporary stuff to be extremely weird, lucky for me (and you) i like weird. these were two of my favorites...

Facebook - Contemporary art. You tell me what you think it looks like. That's

i urge you to use your imagination on the gold statue. i have to be honest in telling you, i have no idea what it was called. i was giggling (and not internally) so hard that i didn't bother looking at the name plate. i am such an adolescent, i know. but really? you tell me what it looks like. but hey, how bout that heart made out of human teeth? that display was right up my alley! my favorite piece of the day! kidding aside, i did spend hours here. you will get lost and there is something for everyone, i promise. i explored every nook and cranny of the place (except the grounds outside, because it was december and philly in december is cold!) a couple of tips: 1. don't carry a large bag, you will be hunted down and told you need to 'check it', even after you've already been walking around for an hour. 2. don't be afraid to eat lunch in their cafeteria. the sammys were pretty tasty (sans brains) and hey, they serve beer! 3. wear comfy shoes. 4. on the day of my visit, my ticket price included other museums as well, make sure you check into that! 5. get your picture taken with the rocky statue out front. it's a must.

be sure to stop by my facebook or instagram pages for more fun photos of my adventure in philly. if you have any info or questions, feel free to contact me. on to my next adventure...
