the cape may-lewes ferry traverses a 17 mile long crossing of the delaware bay, connecting cape may, new jersey and lewes, delaware. you can be a 'walk on' rider for a nominal fee or take your car with you, if you prefer, for a slighly larger (okay, maybe a little more than slightly larger) fee. you should make reservations, most especially in the summer time as this is a high shoobie (this is what the locals call the out of towners) area and the ferry is a favorite form of transportation in the summer months. there are shuttles available to take you where you please if you don't bring your car along (within reason, of course). there is a bar. always important. and snacks are available (nothing i would eat, but you might) if you just can't bear the thought of riding on a boat for a little over an hour and you think you might starve in that time. lots of places to sit and enjoy the view (and what a view it is!) um, if it's cold out and you get sea sick, consider yourself screwed (for lack of a better term, the only other one i can think of is not nearly as pg). do not, i repeat, do not sit inside if the water is choppy and you are prone to sea sickness. don't do it! just trust me on this one, okay? and also, don't think you'll be able to sit in your car either (if you have one with you, that is) because this is a bad idea. if you don't get sea sick, no worries. sea sick prone? sit outside on a bench and just enjoy the view. anything else, and you will regret it. just some advice from me to you. but, in case the need arises, you will find a little white bag located next to the rest rooms that is pocket size for your convenience. on to my next adventure...
