skyline drive (virginia)

so i kept driving by signs that said 'skyline drive' over and over and over. decided that maybe since it was on my way, i would check it out. you have to pay to get on, i think it was like $15 or something like that. brace yourself, you cannot travel very fast on this road. it winds and twists and turns every which way and you are literally driving along the side of the mountains. got a little carsick, myself. allow yourself plenty of extra time on your roadtrip if you plan on traveling along skyline drive...with all the curves and pull overs for viewing (and i have to be honest with you, the first couple were really cool, but after that, they all started to look the same to me...a view of the mountains)

it is very slow going. there are a couple of opportunities to get on and off skyline drive. i started at the very southern tip and hopped off at the first chance i could get (about an hour and half later...maybe more). if i was in a covertable, maybe it would have been more enjoyable, i don't know. i had a lot of people tell me how amazing it was and it was, at first. but to travel from one end to the other (105 miles, i believe) was a little much for me. it was really nice and there were some really great views, i just had enough after a while and opted to hop back on the freeway. glad i did it, though, i am all about new experiences.

on to my next adventure...
